Siheyuan: Snatching the Family Fortune, Refusing to Be a Chump!

In the bitter winter of 1951, He Yuzhu becomes the boy known as Silly Zhu. He Daqing leaves a letter and runs off, leaving behind only 500,000 yuan. Fortunately, before his father leaves, He Yuzhu secretly makes off with all the gold bars, gold bangles, silver dollars, and 12 million yuan in cash from the wooden chest. To support his seven-year-old sister, he reports his father to the Military Control Commission, forcing He Daqing to send half his wages home each month. Then he uses a letter of introduction to get a job at the steel mill.

But nobody in the courtyard is easy to deal with. Yi Zhonghai wants to keep him as a backup retirement plan, Grandma Deaf covets his cooking, Jia Zhangshi is always scheming to take advantage of him, and Jia Dongxu even expects him to cook a whole wedding banquet for free when he goes on a blind date. He quotes them the price outright: two lunchboxes of meat dishes plus 20,000 yuan in wages. Take it or leave it. The three main rooms and side room in the middle courtyard are already in his name, he has a steady monthly paycheck, and his personal storage space is stocked with more supplies than he could ever eat.

He Daqing thought he had taken all the family wealth with him? It had already been snatched away. Now He Yuzhu has his sister to care for, property to his name, a steady income, and the best cooking skills in the whole courtyard. Anyone who wants him to be a sucker and support someone else's family had better make sure they have the nerve to try.
