The Chongzhen Emperor of the Great Ming Has Gone on a Rampage

Everyone says Chongzhen was the most unfortunate last emperor in history.

He inherited a Ming Dynasty rotten to its roots and decayed to the bone.

At court, eunuch factions held sway while civil officials formed cliques for personal gain. They all spoke of benevolence and righteousness, but behind closed doors they were insatiably greedy, draining the state treasury dry.

Beyond the passes, the Jianzhou cavalry watched like tigers, raiding across the frontier every year. Within the passes, years of drought left thousands of miles parched, millions of refugees on the move, and rebellions breaking out everywhere.

The treasury was empty, border troops went unpaid for months, mutinies were constant, and the people ate their own children to survive.

In his previous life, Zhu Youjian worked diligently for seventeen years, toiling through sleepless nights and living frugally. In the end, abandoned by all, he hanged himself at Coal Hill and gave his life for the country, only to have the three-hundred-year Ming Dynasty perish in vain.

Now he has returned to the beginning of his reign, before the tragedies have fully come to pass.

Looking at the court full of parasites, the incompetent officials ruining the country, the overbearing warlords, and the aristocratic clans bleeding the people dry,

Zhu Youjian puts away his compassion and goes on a killing spree.
