Detective Conan: From the Start, I Have an Informant Ledger, and I Refuse to Join the Countermeasures Division

A mysterious Tokyo informant registry has appeared on his phone, able to pinpoint informants who can be bribed. N-rank informants don't survive a month; R-rank ones last half a year. The first time he rolled an SSR informant, Shinichi Kudo, he was so excited he nearly rushed over to shake his hand. But the very next second, Gin forced Shinichi to swallow APTX 4869, and the SSR vanished from the list.

Sota Takuya clutched his phone tightly in the parking lot of Tropical Land, gritting his teeth at the night sky. How could an SSR that impressive just disappear? But he soon calmed down. Shinichi Kudo hadn't died; he'd just turned into Conan Edogawa. When Conan charged into the warehouse at Nihashi Junior High on a dog to rescue someone, Sota's informant registry buzzed again:

UR-rank informant detected: Conan Edogawa, upgraded from SSR.

Sota turned off his flashlight and looked at Conan, whose face was swollen and bruised from a beating. His mouth twitched. So the condition for upgrading to UR was to get beaten up first?
