Showbiz: You're Supposed to Be a Pretty Boy, So Why Are You Playing the God of Dharma?

Yang Su had transmigrated three years earlier, but his entertainment lottery System only just came online. Then his cousin Yang Mi shoved him into Jiaxing to play the pretty-boy star. He spent a year lying flat and flirting with every actress he could find. He even traded the role of Ye Hua in Three Lives, Three Worlds for a year's worth of cafeteria meal service. He thought he could keep avoiding work until Yang Mi slapped the contract for Green Snake: Dharma Master on the table. Only then did he realize he couldn't get out of it.

On his first day on set, Tsui Hark complained that he'd gotten the role through connections. Tang Jia tried to test his strength with a handshake, but his arm trembled from the shock. When filming officially began, Yang Su's booming "Mighty Dragon of the Great Heaven" silenced the whole set. Tsui Hark immediately changed his tune. "This kid was born for movies." Even more absurdly, Yang Su got so deep into character that during a break he stared at Tsui Hark and said, "I could tell at a glance you're not human." The director stumbled back three steps in fright.

The System also unlocked singing fragments, a scene-reenactment aura, and mastery of musical instruments. After Yang Su played a piano piece in front of the entire crew, Wang Zuxian asked, "Are you really Yang Mi's cousin? Or are you some professor who escaped from a music conservatory?"

Yang Su rubbed his bald head and grinned. "Serious people act for a living. With a face like mine, it'd be a shame not to sing."
