Siheyuan: A Workshop Prodigy Dismantles the Soviet Blockade

After transmigrating to the Red Star Steel Mill in the 1960s, Jiang Hai has been at the factory for only half a year and is crammed into an eight-person dormitory. While his fellow college graduates slack off and coast through their days, he runs into an impossible problem for the entire factory: a Soviet-style bending machine that has been out of commission for two years. The deputy factory director secretly sabotages him, and the assessment throws him an impossibly difficult task. If he cannot fix it, his path to promotion as an engineer will be cut off.

After awakening an Equipment Inspection System, he can scan entire machines for faults and optimize outdated heavy industrial equipment. He masters the core designs kept under foreign embargo and dismantles by hand the control components the Soviets refuse to reveal. He not only repairs the scrapped machine, but also upgrades its hydraulic transmission, making it far better than a brand-new machine from the original factory.

His outstanding assessment results attract the attention of the First Ministry of Machine Building. Officials try to lure him away with an offer of housing and household registration, but Jiang Hai chooses to stay on the shop floor. He develops a water-spraying device for truck brakes and hand-draws a complete set of Soviet machine blueprints, breaking through the technical blockade. Can he use his superb technical skills to lead the factory workers in winning back the lost order to produce steel plates for trains?
