War of Resistance: Activate the National Strategy and Order the Whole Country to Break Through the Pass!

Shen Fuxing was jolted awake by an artillery shell and discovered that he had become a militia regiment commander of the same name: a Ningbo merchant who had given away his entire fortune and led five hundred young men from his hometown out of Zhejiang to fight the Japanese at his own expense.

It was hell from the start. On the northern line at Luodian, a Japanese battalion came charging in. First came the planes, then the artillery, leaving the ground covered with charred corpses. The new recruits under him, who had still been farming and fishing just half a month earlier, were shoved into the flank as cannon fodder. The main regiment had already decided to use them as expendable troops. The System activated, with just one beginner's mission: hold the position for twenty-four hours. The Urban Warfare Expert trait turned the survivors into ghosts among the ruins. Working in pairs, they picked off targets with sniper fire, driving a Japanese company commander to report in despair: "The enemy isn't the Sixty-Seventh Regiment!" With over half the regiment lost, Shen Fuxing gave the order: when father and son served in the same battalion, the father would stay; when brothers served in the same battalion, the older brother would stay; and anyone who was the only son in his family would not stay. The remaining two hundred men fixed bayonets. When they ran out of ammunition, they fought hand to hand, holding the line from dawn until sunset.

When reinforcements finally arrived, the entire Songhu battle zone was asking the same question: how could that militia regiment sent in to fill the line possibly still be alive?
