Siheyuan: I'm a Train Driver, and I'll Tear Down the Beastly Courtyard

Li Aiguo transmigrates to 1956 and becomes the son of a railway worker in a Beijing courtyard home. His father died in the line of duty, and his fiancée, Qin Huairu, took the betrothal gifts and married into the Jia family. When he went to demand an explanation, they beat him so badly he was left for dead in his room. Yi Zhonghai stopped anyone from reporting it, hoping to bury the whole affair.

But Li Aiguo survived. With a skill System that lets him earn points by studying, he masters steam locomotive operation, metalworking, and forging, while even strengthening his body until his strength surges.

At a baby's first-birthday celebration, he publicly exposes the Jia family's shame: not a single coin of the fifteen yuan in betrothal gifts will be forgiven. Jia Zhangshi throws a tantrum? Director Wang from the neighborhood committee arrives. Silly Zhu swings a punch? Li Aiguo grabs his fist one-handed and squeezes until his knuckles crack. Yi Zhonghai tries to smooth things over? Veterans from the railway system step in, forcing the family to pay two hundred yuan in compensation, while Silly Zhu is sent to the police station to turn himself in.

Better yet, Li Aiguo sets his sights on the locomotive engineer's exam. The top three can take the controls directly, without having to work their way up from stoking the boiler. While everyone else is still caught up in petty family squabbles, he studies until dawn. In this life, he won't fawn over widows or indulge brutes. When the train whistles, fortunes roll in.
