You Were Once My Whole Sky of Stars

On a rainy night, I left him because I thought he was poor.

My parents pressured me into marrying a hypocrite who abused me. After the divorce, I set up a stall at the night market and became a speck of dust in the ordinary world.

When I next heard about him, he was a business owner, about to marry the benefactor who had helped him.

Regret tore me apart, but I could never again be worthy of someone as radiant as him.

On his wedding day, I brought his favorite baby's breath and quietly slipped into the ceremony.

Watching him, happy on the stage, I smiled through red-rimmed eyes and said, "I wish you happiness."

From then on, he had a peaceful life ahead of him, while I was left with a lifetime of regret. We went our separate ways, never to meet again.
