In the cities of the near future, "memory repair" has become a high-end medical method that can delete painful memories, implant good memories, and even repair damaged brains. The protagonist Lin Shen is a top memory restorer who can sneak into other people's consciousness to build a "memory palace". Lin Shen's wife Su Wan suffered brain damage after an accident.
