Great Ming: Defying the Emperor's Decree, I Refuse My Fief and Claim the Throne

I transmigrated as the Prince of Yan in the Great Ming. With my wedding fast approaching, at the ceremony where the vassal princes were to be enfeoffed, I tore up the imperial edict in front of everyone!

"Father, I won't go to Beiping! I won't marry the Xu family's daughter!" The court officials were horrified, and killing intent flickered in Zhu Yuanzhang's eyes as he sat on the throne.

Everyone said I was mad, and waited to see me bleed out in the Hall of Heavenly Mandate.

But they didn't know that this "madman" had the script in hand: carving up the realm to enfeoff princes was a recipe for chaos. How could I walk the bloody path of the Jingnan Campaign again?

Better to cripple myself now and live as a carefree commoner than have my own descendants slaughter one another in the future!

But after they stripped off my ceremonial robes and drove me from the palace, I looked at the ten acres of poor farmland they'd given me and the crude marriage contract my father had "bestowed" on me, and smiled. This game was only just beginning.
