He was a eunuch in the late Ming Dynasty. He was favored by Emperor Xizong of the Ming Dynasty and served as the eunuch of Li Bingbi and the governor of the East Factory. He also colluded with Xizong's wet nurse, the Hakka family, to form a powerful eunuch party. Because of his overwhelming power, the courtiers flattered him one after another and respectfully called him "Nine Thousand Years Old". Some officials even built a living shrine for him, and his courtesy standards once far exceeded the etiquette system. After Emperor Chongzhen succeeded to the throne, he lost power and was demoted, and eventually hanged himself on the way. This novel and its characters are purely fictitious.
