My family Content summary: In an ancient village in the mountains of Guangxi, Li Mingde and Lin Xiulian were childless and lonely in their later years. In the cold winter of 1948, they found an abandoned boy at the entrance of the village, wearing thin clothes and a mutilated copper coin hanging around his neck. Out of kindness, the couple took in the child and named him Li Zhiyuan, thus opening an extraordinary chapter in the family's history. At that time, China was on the eve of great changes. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Li Mingde and his wife barely made a living by relying on a few acres of thin farmland and his father's carpenter skills. The old couple treated their adopted son as their own and saved money to send him to school. Li Zhiyuan was also very sensible and went to the fields to help with farm work after school.
