The Cucumber-Slapping Palm: Zhang Xiaosi, the Wulin Comedy King

"Cucumber-Smashing Palm, Zhang Xiaosi" is a comedy short-video series built around a down-to-earth deconstruction of martial arts, and is hailed as a new benchmark for martial arts comedy. Inspired by the everyday kitchen task of smashing cucumbers, it creatively turns home-cooking techniques into jianghu palm techniques, creating a steady stream of laughs through sharp contrasts.

The protagonist, Zhang Xiaosi, takes the path of an unconventional hero. His character is grounded in everyday life, as a cook or an innkeeper, and he often performs absurd scenes like "cucumber-smashing duels" with a completely serious expression. Each episode delivers a standout moment in under three minutes, using a sequence of "demonstrate a move, then end with a twist." It carries on the lively, everyday charm of My Own Swordsman and the comedic deconstruction of The Legend of Que Dao Men.

The series perfectly meets young viewers' need to unwind. It uses familiar details from everyday life to soften the seriousness of traditional martial arts, and its anthology format suits the rapid-fire spread of jokes in short videos, making it an innovative representative of martial arts comedy.
