Envoy of the Pure Altar: Bajie's Carefree Journey Through the Three Realms

Three hundred years have passed since Bajie was given the title of Messenger of the Altar of Purification.

He's sick of the offerings and tired of the fresh fruit. Even the Buddhist scriptures sound to him "not as good as the cicadas singing at Gao Village."

So he thinks about sneaking off to the human world for a temple fair, or heading to the Eastern Sea to fish for lobsters.

Who would have guessed that one little outing would stir up such a commotion?

He helps a little fox demon reclaim her ancestral sugar painting, uncovering a blood debt tied to a wolf demon's reincarnation. He storms the Penglai Sea Market and exposes the Dragon Prince's greed, then saves an entire village of fishermen with half a dragon pearl. He even goes to Spirit Mountain and tears away the hollow facade of Buddhism's promise to "save all living beings"...

Everyone calls him a troublemaker, but beneath the overturned offering table he finds a wild peach. "What's the rush? Let's have something sweet first."

Later, he opens "Bajie's Eatery" in Gao Village. He sells food, and every dish comes with a story sealed inside: stories of tears and laughter, regret and enlightenment...
