You Were Supposed to Explain Journey to the West, but You Became a Civil Service Exam Tutor

Yang Chen got a job as a radio host by beating out someone who had gotten in through connections. As a result, he offended his superiors, who targeted him at every turn. His boss gave him one last chance: host a program about Journey to the West. If he could get the listenership above 2%, he could stay. Otherwise, he was out.

After preparing carefully, Yang Chen went on air to discuss Journey to the West.

"An investigation found that while serving as director of the Peach Garden, Sun Wukong lost sight of his ideals and beliefs, betrayed his original mission, stole 100,000 tons of peaches while guarding the garden, restricted the Seven Fairies' freedom of movement, caused a major disturbance at the Peach Banquet, and stole 100,000 elixirs from Taishang Laojun..."

"The Jade Emperor assigned Tathagata Buddha to investigate the case thoroughly. Buddha found that Sun Wukong's crimes were clearly established and supported by ample evidence. During the investigation, he refused to cooperate and obstructed the Heavenly Court's inquiry. He violently resisted Heavenly Court law enforcement officers and attempted to overthrow its regime. His attitude was extremely arrogant, and the impact of his actions was extremely harmful. The court has sentenced him to a total of 500 years in prison, with no parole or medical release. This is the final judgment and cannot be appealed."

The local audience was completely dumbfounded by this version of Journey to the West...
