Walk Toward Me and Stay Awhile

"Chai Jun, we're dreaming. Do you understand?"

I jolted awake.

I was a little sweaty as I stared blankly at my room. So it had only been a dream.

Life alone certainly had its own peculiar charm. The image projected on the wall had stopped at the end of the movie, and sure enough, I'd been watching a science-fiction film before falling asleep.

I got up to take a shower. Since it was still the middle of the night, I decided to finish the movie later, then figure out how I wanted to spend my days once morning came. As I showered, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was going to happen, and I found myself thinking about the dream I'd just had.

As I came out, drying my hair, my phone screen happened to go dark. Something felt a little off. I had no social life and liked peace and quiet, so I'd turned off notifications for ads and such in the settings. Who had messaged me now? Could it be a notification that I'd won the lottery ticket I'd bought a few days ago?
