You Asked Me to Write a Bright Future, but I Wrote Warhammer 40K

Zhou Xuan transmigrates to a parallel world and discovers that he's participating in a global writing competition.

Contestants have to write based on prompts from the judges.

The show's first theme is... "The Future."

While everyone else is racking their brains to depict a beautiful future,

Zhou Xuan puts pen to paper and writes the first line: "In the dark, distant forty-first millennium, there is only war among the stars..."

From the Golden Age at the start, the audience thinks it's going to be another boring, beautiful future. But when the Warp storms rise and the Emperor of Mankind launches the Great Crusade, they gradually realize something is off.

"The Emperor, the Primarchs, the Astartes... The theme is betrayal, and you're writing the Horus Heresy?!"

"Is this guy crazy? They asked him to write about technology, and he's writing about Orks using the power of belief?!"

"The theme is the sun, and he's writing about Lord Solar Macharius's crusade?!"

"Disease is Grandfather's love for all living things, and he's writing about the Plague Wars against the Great Unclean One of Nurgle?!"

"The theme is bugs, and he's writing about the Tyranids, the Great Devourer?!"

"The theme is cities, and he's writing about a hive world?!"
