Broken Strings, Shattered Love

Deep within the resplendent imperial palace, just outside the Hall of Mental Cultivation, her gaze happened to fall upon a tall, upright general. That fleeting glimpse was like a beam of light, instantly illuminating her heart.

She was a princess of unmatched nobility, the darling of everyone around her. Yet from that moment on, her heart could no longer be still. For the sake of that stirring feeling within her, she set aside her reserve and began carefully plotting one chance encounter after another.

At palace banquets, she smiled sweetly, but her eyes always followed him. At the racetrack, she pretended to fall from her horse, hoping to win his concern.

But he was a general with countless victories to his name, devoted to defending his country and destined for the battlefield. At first, he thought her repeated advances were merely the coquettish affectations of a palace woman.

Yet through their many encounters, he gradually came to see her sincerity and determination. In a court rife with political scheming, such pure affection was all the more precious.

When war flared up once more along the border, the general resolutely set off for the front lines. Back at the palace, she worried for him day and night, praying for his safe return.

Can their love withstand the trials of political intrigue and war, and ultimately find its happy ending?
