I Left Showbiz to Carry Plates, Only to Discover I'm an Award-Winning Director

Director Chen Ying transmigrates to a parallel world and films the masterpieces from his past life, Dying to Survive, To Live, and Life Matters. But the movies all flop, leaving him buried in debt.

Ten years later.

To pay off his debts, Chen Ying works as a waiter in a restaurant. There, he runs into a former assistant he once helped, who has since become a famous director.

The former assistant posts a message thanking Chen Ying for his support back then. It seems like a show of gratitude, but in truth, he's just promoting his new film.

But then...

Netizens are curious: Who is Chen Ying?

When they dig up Chen Ying's masterpieces from ten years ago, the entire internet is stunned.

"It's an outrage that Dying to Survive didn't become a hit!"

"What an incredible movie To Live is. I felt so sad after watching it."

"Life Matters has such profound meaning!"

Chen Ying becomes a sensation. At the insistence of netizens, theaters rerelease the masterpieces that flopped ten years ago, and they happen to go head-to-head with the former assistant's new movie.

Ten days later.

The former assistant looks at his dismal box office earnings, then at the explosive sales of Chen Ying's films, and flies into a rage:

"Don't forget your benefactors! You wouldn't be famous without me, so you have to give me ninety percent of your earnings!"
