The Ugly Girl

I'm a twin. When my older brother was born, Father set off firecrackers as if it were New Year's. My brother lay peacefully in Mother's arms, nursing. When I was born, there were no firecrackers because I was so ugly. Mother had no milk for me, and on a winter night Father carried me out and abandoned me in an old, dry well in the wilderness... I survived against all odds. To stay alive and face the hardships of life, I cried, I laughed, and I bravely pressed on, step by step, toward the pinnacle of life...
