I Spent Three Years Helping the Poor, and This Is the Great Ming?

Liu Mu, a grassroots poverty-alleviation official, travels alone to a poor village deep in the mountains of Fengyang County, vowing to help the villagers escape poverty and become prosperous.

But this village is absurdly isolated.

It's practically an undeveloped mountain hamlet that has never encountered modern civilization.

Still, there are plenty of backward and isolated places in this world, so Liu Mu doesn't think much of it.

After his three-year term ends, Liu Mu is about to leave the village, now completely transformed, when he happens to meet several visitors from out of town who have come to explore it.

In the autumn of the third year of Hongwu, Zhu Yuanzhang returns to his hometown to pay respects to his ancestors, traveling incognito with Crown Prince Zhu Biao and important court officials.

When they arrive at an unremarkable little mountain village, they are stunned by its prosperity and abundance.

"So many people across the realm don't have enough to eat. Why do the people here have meat at every meal?"

"What are they growing in the fields? The yield is astonishing!"

When Zhu Yuanzhang learns that it is all thanks to Liu Mu, the poverty-alleviation official sent by the imperial court, he immediately summons him.

But Liu Mu is even more astonished than Zhu Yuanzhang. "I've spent three years alleviating poverty. This is the Ming Dynasty?"
