Spooky Short Stories

"How did you open the door?" Xiao Jun walked over to me and placed the classroom key on my desk.

How had the door opened? Right, how had it opened?

How had I not thought of that? Was it because I'd been so focused on how the lights had turned on?

There were only two keys to the door, one with the class discipline monitor and one with the homeroom teacher.

If neither of them had opened it, then who had?

Had we left it unlocked yesterday?

"I could've sworn I locked it!" Xiao Jun picked up the key and put it in her pocket.

"Xiao Jun, I think I saw a ghost..."

That incident became a secret between Xiao Jun and me. Even now, when I think back on it,

I still don't know who opened the classroom door.

Later, at a class reunion, a classmate I was fairly close to told me that someone had died at our old middle school.

The death had taken place exactly where our school building now stood.
