The Unheroic Hero

What makes a hero? Someone with exceptional talent and courage. Someone who draws a sword to help when they see injustice? Or someone upright and fair, who wins the love of the people?

No, no, no. Who says a hero has to be noble and aboveboard, or fair to everyone?

His methods are ruthless and underhanded, and he specializes in dirty tricks. Even demonic cultivators and evil spirits call him a sneaky bastard. He saves people whenever he feels like it, acting according to his mood, and he charges for his services. So what if my methods aren't noble or righteous? As long as they save lives, that's all that matters.

Without a conscience, nobody can guilt-trip you.

My name is Chu Chen. I'm a cultivator who does as he pleases. I save people only when I'm in the mood, and I'll use any means necessary to get things done.

Reborn into a world where people devour one another, what do I do if I don't have a cheat? I make one myself.

I harvest countless souls and forge them into a computer brain from another world to help me comprehend the Dao. You lost to me, so everything you have is mine? Reincarnation? Sorry, I'm poor. I don't believe in wasting anything. You lost, so not only does your cultivation belong to me, your soul does too. Heh heh heh!
