In the late Warring States period, the Eastern Zhou dynasty was wholly engulfed in the struggle for supremacy among the feudal states. Each state began aggressively recruiting talent to serve its own ends. The great states hoped that wise men would join them, help them achieve supremacy, and ultimately unify the realm. The smaller states hoped to attract talent so they could survive and avoid being annexed by the great powers. In this era, the four great young lords emerged: Lord Mengchang, Lord Pingyuan, Lord Chunshen, and Lord Xinling. Through this novel, the author hopes to recreate that age of contending schools of thought and pay tribute to the towering figures of the Hundred Schools of Thought.
