Great Ming: I Sent You on a Voyage West, Not to Conquer the West

In the seventh year of Yongle.

Zheng He's fleet returned safely, bringing its mission to a successful close.

The entire court was thrilled.

But Zhu Gaoxi, the fourth son, who had been reborn, refused to play along. In front of everyone, he denounced this tributary trade that was all show and no substance.

Zhu Di replied, "If you think you can do better, then go do it!"

A few years later, Zhu Gaoxi returned victorious, leaving Zhu Di utterly astonished.

"I told you to go on a mission to the Western Ocean, and you conquered the whole thing?"
