Transmigrated into a Soul: I Picked Up a Hunter to Be My Empress

Zhou Lan was a minor actress who barely got any lines. One day, while being lifted on wires during filming, she had an accident and her soul transmigrated into the body of Zhou Chunlan, a woman from Xinghua Village in the kingdom of Nanzhao. The original owner was lazy and terribly overweight, the village's favorite laughingstock over meals and tea. On the day Zhou Lan transmigrated, her wicked grandmother planned to marry her off in a ghost marriage for eight taels of silver. Zhou Lan refused and managed to escape the disaster by sweet-talking and tricking her way out of it. But she never expected her grandmother to make another decision on her own: for fifteen taels in bride price, she betrothed Zhou Lan to a mute more than ten years older than the original owner. Rather than keep living with the Zhou family, she figured she might as well marry a mute. After thinking it over again and again, she agreed. Once married, she laid down three rules: she would take care of the mute's clothing, food, lodging, and travel, but they would absolutely not consummate the marriage. To her surprise, the mute agreed. But on the day she returned to her family home, he spoke, and even gave her two taels of silver. It turned out he wasn't mute at all. He just didn't want to waste words on the people in the village... Later, she learned the mute was called Jing Mo. He wasn't greasy-looking, and his features were refined. Once he shaved his beard, Zhou Chunlan felt she'd struck gold...
