Great Tang: Hou Junji and I Conquer the Western Regions

Li Meng clearly remembers setting out to find Hou Junji's tomb based on the account in that yellowed Gazetteer of Binzhou: he left the county seat of Xunyi, headed two li northeast, then climbed the nearby mountain. But just as he reached halfway up the slope and found a spot that looked like the place described in the ancient text, a fierce wind suddenly rose beneath what had been a clear sky, and rain poured down in torrents. After a clap of thunder, the downpour became relentless, and it felt as if he had fallen into a giant pit. When he woke, he found himself on a street steeped in the atmosphere of antiquity. Men and women in ancient clothing filled the street, coming and going. Just as he began to wonder if this was a film studio or set for a period drama, the sound of hoofbeats came from the distance. At the head of the group was a spirited young man, followed by a retinue. An old man nearby said that this was Prince of Qin Li Shimin and his subordinate Hou Junji.
