The Great Journey to the West: Eighteen Arhats Fight Wukong

Pangu split heaven and earth, transforming his body into the mountains, rivers, sky, earth, and clouds that support the Three Realms. Before ascending, he led his two deputy generals, Gongsun Xiao and Yinyang Zi, along with the thirteen divine generals under his command, in a campaign against the Seven Great Gods and Demons. He turned his severed little finger into a barrier and named it the Hongmeng Realm. The surviving fiends among the Seven Great Gods and Demons were sealed within it. From then on, peace and tranquility reigned throughout the Three Realms.

Many years later, the Hongmeng Realm reappeared. It turned out that the Eighteen Arhats under the Buddha Tathagata in the Western Heaven had yet to complete their tribulation. They left the mountain without permission, stole Pangu's jade scroll from ** Sea Repository, and moved the Vajra Axe on **, causing the Hongmeng Realm, which had been floating in another dimension, to reappear in the Three Realms. The demons on the Hongmeng Realm were startled awake, and their magical power began to stir. If it could not be suppressed, the gods and demons sealed inside would break through the barrier and endanger the Three Realms. At this critical moment, the Buddha summoned the Victorious Fighting Buddha, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, who had attained enlightenment on his pilgrimage, endowed him with magical power, and instructed him to enter Hongmeng and destroy the demons. Thus began the Great Sage's journey through Hongmeng.
