Journey to the West: I Saw the Future and Was Hunted by Buddha

The Buddha says everything is fate.

I say, "Tathagata, old man! Don't talk to me about fate. Was my whole life meant to gild your disciple? Why does Jin Chanzi get gilded while I have to die for it?"

The Buddha says all causes and effects are predestined.

I say, "Bullshit! I survived. Doesn't your Buddhist school always say that Heaven has a virtue of cherishing life? Since I was lucky enough to survive, why can't you spare me?"

The Buddha says I have committed every kind of evil.

I say, "I never did evil in my life! Why should I die while those great demons get to meet a good end? Don't forget, the Golden-Winged Roc swallowed the lives of an entire city in one go! Just because he's your brother-in-law, he gets to live? So your Buddhist school has its share of nepotism, too."

The Buddha was persuaded and decided to let me go!

After I left, the Buddha said, "This demon understands the workings of Heaven and Earth and can foresee the future. We absolutely cannot let him live!"

I say, "Pass a message to Tathagata, that old man: tell him to wait for me. One day, I'm going to fight my way up to Western Spirit Mountain!"
