War of Resistance: You Went Off on Your Own and Came Back with an Entire Division?

In 1942, during the Japanese army's first sweep, the Independent Regiment suffered heavy losses.

To preserve the revolutionary cause, Li Yunlong broke the entire regiment into small units and had them develop independently.

Three months later, the whole regiment reunited:

First Battalion Commander Zhang Dabiao: My battalion isn't very big, just over a thousand men, plus a few heavy and light machine guns.

Second Battalion Commander Shen Quan: My battalion has only a little over nine hundred men, plus a few Italian cannons.

Third Battalion Commander Wang Huaibao: I can't compare with you two. I don't have any decent weapons, just a few thousand men.

Just as everyone was congratulating themselves, an armored division appeared before them.

A tank battalion, a cavalry battalion, an artillery regiment, a special forces unit...

Zhu Hongzhen: What I've built up is pretty average too. It's only this little bit.
