The first expedition failed. The Imperial Expeditionary Corps was defeated by the elite Fire Eaters. The morale of the human expeditionary force was greatly reduced, and they suffered successive defeats on the battlefield. After losing many foreign fortresses, the imperial army had to retreat to the Wall of War, relying on high walls and moats to keep inhuman things out of the empire. Magic, knights, and firearms are the spokespersons of this era and the only survival support for mankind. This novel and its characters are purely fictitious.
