He's a Criminal? He's Been a National Hero in All Three Lives

They call me the Ashen Man, and I'm also a narcotics officer.

A show revisits people's past lives. It selects people from all walks of life who are nearing death and replays their first three lives to see whether fate and karma have played a part.

When the police escort a criminal onto the stage, the audience is stunned. This man was driven insane by his arrest and developed a split personality.

Then the replay of Jiang Che's first life begins.

In his first life, his father was a criminal. Many people believe he must be one too, because that's his fate. But then they see him quietly protecting his country.

In his second life, many people say he must have started doing evil. Instead, Jiang Che becomes a border defense hero all on his own. He is a fearless warrior who protects the frontier time and again.

The third life is the one in which he is a madman. As people watch the replay, they see that he spent this life undercover in a criminal company, with the sole aim of bringing it down. In the end, he smiles as he allows himself to be arrested, and goes completely mad, having lost his love, his friends, everything…
