Lords and Generals

In the second year of Zhenghe under the Great Wu, Wu made an alliance with Jin. Jin promised that if Great Wu joined it in a successful campaign against Liao, it would return the Sixteen Prefectures of Youyun to Wu. With the lands his ancestors had yearned for within reach, Emperor Hong Min of Wu was deeply tempted. The eunuch Tong Shuo, who held the high office of Grand Preceptor, seized the opportunity to fan the flames and push for the campaign against Liao. But his real aim was to secure his own elevation to prince.

The ruler and his ministers, each with their own schemes, finally formed an alliance with Jin to attack Liao at the end of the second year of Zhenghe. And so began a tale of a general who would die after a hundred battles...
