Crosstalk: From the Start, I Draw a Fan After a Car Crash, Leaving Lao Guo Dumbfounded

The curtain call at the Beijing Exhibition Theater was running short.

To save time, Guo Degang told his apprentices to prepare fan paintings for the final performance.

Once they took the stage, Dalin sang the wrong lyrics, Xiaomeng played the wrong strings, Xiaobai forgot his lines, and Shaobing turned his song into rap.

Guo Degang was dumbfounded as he listened from the wings, wondering whether his apprentices had been possessed or what.

The last apprentice to perform was Qi Yuncheng, whose voice was breaking.

He was one of Guo's early students, and his voice had kept him from ever becoming popular. Guo only hoped he could make it through the song without a hitch.

But when the strings began...

A soaring high note rang out.

"This fan is painted with a Crystal Palace!"

The whole audience erupted instantly.

"Holy crap, Qi Yuncheng perfectly showed us what it means to shine by comparison!"

"That look on Teacher Guo's face, like he wanted to trade sons on the spot!"

"The civil and military ministers save the crown prince, and Qi Yuncheng is the only one who can't keep up. Sorry, I can't stop laughing!"
