A Letter from Afar: My Pen Pal Is Actually Li Shimin

Li Ran transmigrated to the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty. He awakened a System, but it wouldn't activate until a year later, so he had to find a way to get by in Chang'an in the meantime.

One day, Li Ran received a letter filled with the sender's innermost thoughts. He found it amusing and wrote back.

The two then spent a long time corresponding, and the more they talked, the more Li Ran felt his pen pal was a lunatic.

The reason was simple...

The pen pal who called himself Old Li kept asking him strange questions: What do you think of the current emperor?

Do you think the court's current plan to wage war against the Turks is viable?

If you were the emperor, how would you build a prosperous Tang Dynasty?

A year later,

the System activated and ordered Li Ran to enter government service.

At a loss, Li Ran wrote to his pen pal for help.

The next day, the current emperor showed up at Li Ran's home in person.

Looking at the utterly bewildered Li Ran, Li Shimin smiled and said, "My dear Li, I am Old Li. I hear you want to become an official?"
