Four Sufferings

The protagonist of the novel, Si Kutou, is the fourth son of a landlord in the North China Plain. His family had thousands of acres of fertile land and he had no worries about food and clothing. However, he encountered landlords who divided the land all his life. He was a bachelor for half his life, eating the food of hundreds of families and wearing the clothes of hundreds of families. Although Si Kutou was poor, he still had a sense of humor. Although he accepted his fate, he did not believe in it. The story tells the difficult life of the protagonist Si Kutou.
