Second Summer

Lao Liu, one of Jinshuo Group's founders, became increasingly arrogant after decades with the company. Taking advantage of his oversight of bidding and tendering, he brazenly pocketed intermediary fees from business development projects.

After a senior executive at the client company reported him to the boss, Wang Xiongqi, Boss Wang personally investigated the whole affair. He also began to suspect other major development projects handled by Lao Liu.

Boss Wang had other executives gather information from every available channel about the other projects Lao Liu had handled. The audit department also uncovered more than several million in intermediary fees that Lao Liu had pocketed.

Remembering that they had founded the company together, Boss Wang wanted Lao Liu to step down from Jinshuo Group's management. But Lao Liu went all in, hoping to redeem himself through meritorious service. It was already too late.

After the senior executive at the client company was brought down, the procuratorate also summoned Lao Liu. Boss Wang used his personal connections to secure bail for him pending trial. Knowing that if he refused to do as Boss Wang wished, he would spend the rest of his life behind bars, Lao Liu stopped clinging to his position in Jinshuo's management and focused only on protecting himself.

After the founding veteran broke his heart, Boss Wang brought in newcomer Du Meiqi. It was a fresh start, and a change of heart.
