Rebuilding the Great Ming: Your Majesty, Stop the Rewards, the Storerooms Are Full

In the second year of the Chongzhen reign, an event later known as the Jisi Incident took place.

The Jurchens bypassed the Ning-Jin defense line and launched a surprise attack on the capital from the Mongol border.

The court officials were thrown into turmoil, and everyone was gripped by fear.

But Zhu Youjian, who had transmigrated and now sat high upon the throne, slapped his palm down and declared, "Good!"

The corrupt late Ming needed a man like Hong Taiji to come and teach it a lesson. A good, hard lesson.

Hong Taiji led his remaining troops in retreat, while Zhu Youjian shouted after him, "You wild boar, you're running the wrong way! The Kong family is over there."

When Hong Taiji tried to flee home, Zhu Youjian called after him again, "Wrong way! That's the road home."

Following his uncle Gao Yingxiang, Li Zicheng watched in utter bewilderment as Hong Taiji and his men fought desperately against them.

At the border, Zhu Youjian watched Hong Taiji's battered figure and said courteously, "We look forward to your next visit."

He turned to his subordinates and said, "You've all earned merit for driving back the Jurchens. You deserve rewards."

The faces of several meritorious officials changed, and they waved their hands hurriedly. "Your Majesty, please don't. The warehouses are full."
