Dust-Proof Beads: Archaeological Wonders

July 5, 1957 When workers were digging the foundation for a new textile factory in the western suburbs of Chengguan, Xi'an, they unearthed a blue brick arch tomb. The tomb is semicircular in shape. There is a stone tablet blocking the entrance of the cave. There are no words on it. There is no coffin or funerary objects in the tomb. There is a stone bed in the middle of the room, and there is a foot of floating earth on the stone bed. Judging from the undulations on the surface of the dust, there was a body lying underneath. There is a recess on the top of the corpse's head, as big as a sea bowl. There is a bead inside the recess. Its color is dark green with yellowish tones, and it is as big as a soybean. The pit was strange, as if a bowl had been placed there, as if someone had whipped it, and the edges were smooth. The inside of the recess was spotless, except for a shining bead the size of a soybean. And this bead is the Bichen Bead, one of the three ancient divine beads recorded in the official history of the Later Tang Dynasty! This novel and its characters are purely fictitious.
