A Thousand Demons Under Heaven: Moonlit Silk Staining the Clouded Peaks

Part One

"One, two, three..." Lan Ting sat on the hillside, counting her own tails. She was a mechanical nine-tailed fox. Whenever she got bored, she would "fiddle around" with her tails, and she meant that literally. The breeze drifted by, the fragrance of green grass filling the air around her. Lan Ting stood up and gazed beyond Purple Dragon Mountain at the vast blue sea, its misty expanse stretching to the horizon...

When Xu Yezheng found Lan Ting at the foot of the mountain, injured and unconscious with a hole in her head, she looked just like this: a young girl in her mid-teens, with big, adorable eyes, but a body whose bones were made of steel and machinery. Her face was foxlike, and nine segmented appendages extended from her backside. Xu Yezheng took Lan Ting to a friend's home on the mountain.

Lan Ting remained unconscious for three days and nights. When she finally woke up, she knew nothing about the three ultimate questions.
