About This Novel

After the death of Yelu Abaoji, the founding emperor of Khitan, his second son Yelu Deguang, Taizong of Liao Dynasty, succeeded to the throne. It was during the period when the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms and the Later Tang Dynasty unified the Central Plains. Deguang inherited his father's legacy, consolidated the outside of the pass and expanded into the pass. He merged the conquered Dongdan Kingdom into Khitan and became Nanjing Road. In the fifth year after ascending the throne, Emperor Li Siyuan of the Later Tang Dynasty died, and his son Li Conghou succeeded him. His adopted son Li Congke killed Li Conghou and took the throne. Shi Jingtang raised an army against Li Congke and asked Khitan for help. Deguang helped Shi Jingtang destroy the Later Tang Dynasty and establish the Later Jin Dynasty. Shi Jin ceded Youyun Sixteen Prefectures as a reward and proclaimed himself Emperor He'er. Seven years later, Shi Jingtang died, and his son Shi Chonggui was established. Changed its foreign policy, claiming Khitan as a grandson but not as a minister. Yelu Deguang sent troops to attack Jin. It took four years to destroy Jin, change the country's name to Liao, and receive congratulations from the imperial court in Kaifeng. The next year, Deguang left his agent to garrison Kaifeng and led his army back to the DPRK. He fell ill and died on the way. This book tells the historical story of Yelu Deguang's dynasty.
