At that time, the power of the Southern Song Dynasty was in the hands of the royal family surnamed Liu, while the power of the Northern Wei Dynasty was controlled by the Xianbei Tuoba tribe, a nomadic tribe in the north. In the early Northern Wei Dynasty, it took more than a hundred years to establish the capital in Pingcheng (today's Datong, Shanxi Province). Later, the seventh emperor Tuoba Hong moved the capital to Luoyang, which was known as Tuoba Hong in history. Under the guidance of his grandmother, Queen Mother Feng, Tuoba Hong advocated economic development, implemented national unity, promoted Han culture and spread Buddhism, which brought the Northern Wei Dynasty to unprecedented prosperity in terms of culture and national unity. Later, he implemented the salary system, land equalization system, and three-chief system. It has played a positive role in promoting social development and continuing Chinese civilization. This play tells a story in the mid-Northern Wei Dynasty. The purpose is to enable future generations to remember this period of history that should not be forgotten. The story begins with the death of Emperor Wencheng, the fifth emperor of the Northern Wei Dynasty.
