About This Novel
In 1526, Suleiman I led an army to bloodbath the Kingdom of Hungary in Mohachi, and set his sights on Vienna on the Danube River. This year, Charles V, King of Spain and Holy Roman Emperor, handed over Austria to Ferdinand, who also belonged to the Habsburg family. This decision would determine the future of Eastern Europe. France's "Knight King" Francois I had just lost the Battle of Pavia and became a prisoner of Charles V.
