About This Novel

In the first year of Xuanhe (1119), the Northern Song Dynasty was nearing its end - Huizong Zhao Ji was obsessed with calligraphy, painting, flowers and stones, and left the government to the "six thieves" such as Cai Jing and Tong Guan, and the court became a casino for power and money transactions. The Western Army (northwestern frontier defense force in the Northern Song Dynasty) was the main force in the fight against the Jin Dynasty. However, military pay was withheld by Cai Jing's party members at all levels, and the soldiers were unevenly frozen and hungry. With the rise of the Jin Kingdom in the north, Wanyan Aguda led his troops to attack the Liao Dynasty. The Liao Dynasty was in danger, and the Central Plains had become the meat coveted by the Jin soldiers. The aftermath of the Miao-Liu Mutiny (1129) has not yet settled. Although the leader of the rebellion, Liu Zhengyan (the biological father of the protagonist), was defeated and died, his call to "clear the emperor and eliminate the six thieves" is still spread among the people. In order to eliminate the root cause, Huizong ordered to track down the remaining members of Liu Zhengyan, especially his youngest son (the protagonist Liu Zhenyue). For a time, Bianliang and surrounding towns were filled with police officers and spies. The refugees were interrogated if they made the slightest move, and everyone was in danger.
