About This Novel
The story tells the story of a group of children, with Tiedan as the protagonist, growing up during the war-torn Anti-Japanese War in a small county in the mountains of northern Guangdong. When Tiedan was still a baby, his parents who participated in the revolution gave him to the Italian priest Uncle Peter to be raised, and he grew up with little Peter in the church. Later, due to the Japanese invaders occupying the county, Uncle Peter was forced to return to China with his child, Little Peter, due to the situation at that time. Tiedan was raised in the home of his "uncle" who was engaged in underground work. The novel is narrated by Tiedan writing a letter to little Peter, recalling his main experiences while living at his uncle's house. There are tears and laughter; losses and gains; confusion and ultimately direction. The suffering years are tempering a group of children headed by Tiedan. They did not choose to fall because of the difficulty of life and the harsh reality of the blow. Instead, they faced the difficulties, were positive, worked together, and participated in the cause of the Anti-Japanese War. They will eventually usher in the dawn of dawn and a new life.
