Romance of Ming Dynasty
by Cai Dongfan
About This Novel
The system of the Ming Dynasty was dominated by Han people. Zhu Yuanzhang, the Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, rose to the occasion and within a few years, he expelled the Yuan Emperor and unified China. There were twelve subsequent generations. The seventeen emperors lasted for 270 years and six years. There were huge reasons for the question of how to rise, how to prosper, how to decline, and how to perish. The sages have a saying: "The gentleman's Taoism is long, and the villain's Taoism is gone, and the country will prosper; the gentleman's Tao is gone, and the villain's Taoism is long, the country will decline. Although this sentence is ancient and modern, it is always a common saying and cannot be used as a conclusive proof of the rise and fall of a generation. The Ming Dynasty prospered and then fell, but it followed the five major mistakes of the Yuan Dynasty: the first disadvantage is flesh and blood. The second disadvantage is the succession of powerful eunuchs, the third disadvantage is the rampage of traitors, the fourth disadvantage is the favoring of the palace, and the fifth disadvantage is that the wandering bandits bring harm to the people. In addition, there are domestic party disputes, strong enemies abroad, and the harassment of Jiaojiao.
