About This Novel

Most people know Fu Jian because of the Battle of Feishui. Most people's impression of him is limited to his arrogant and arbitrary "throwing a whip to cut off the flow". In fact, Fu Jian was very inspirational and quite sober in the first half of his life. Together with the famous Prime Minister Wang Meng, he contributed to a rare legend of a monarch and his ministers in history; He wanted to bandage the wounds of the troubled times, comfort the people, and treat the prisoners well, but in the end he led to a great defeat and chaos with the largest number of casualties. He cherished talents, recruited heroes, made great use of Murong Chui, who was running from poverty, and extricated his mortal enemy Yao Chang. These two people eventually became his gravediggers... Trying to restore a long-gone era is an impossible task, not to mention that it was an era of great chaos and turmoil. And trying to recreate Fu Jian, a dream chaser in troubled times, is even more idiotic. But I was still attracted by that era and those brilliant names: Fu Jian, Wang Dao, Huan Wen, Murong Chui, Xie An, Wang Xizhi... So I came up with this book. Word by word, I trudged upstream and clumsily tried to reproduce the stories behind these names.
