Langshi Ancient Town
About This Novel
Langshi Ancient Town is located among the mountains at the junction of five counties: Wugang, Xinning, Shaoyang, Longhui and Dongkou. It has been known as the "Five Jiming Counties" since ancient times. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was an important material distribution center in southwestern Hunan and was known as "Little Nanjing". In the seventh year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1409), Wang Zhenghai, a descendant of an official, traveled here and saw the stone slabs in the back mountain turned up layer by layer, shaped like waves. Taking the meaning of "when a wanderer comes here, he takes root like a stone", he changed the name from Lijiaba to Langshi and moved his family here. Since then, the Wang family has been farming, studying and reproducing here for nearly six hundred years, turning a remote place into a famous ancient village in southwestern Hunan. Today, in this ancient village, among the 88 ancient dwellings that are still intact, countless stone carvings and couplets silently tell the Langshi Wang family's grand ambition of "ordering the family to govern the country and bringing peace to the world, and serving the world with filial piety and loyalty" and the idea of "avoiding dryness, dampness, cold and heat, and being different from the hustle and bustle of Qiu Pass". Simple nostalgia; among them, the exquisite poetry of "catkins fly over the quiet alleys, and the fragrance of plum blossoms reaches Xiaomenchun" and the high-spirited spirit of "a thousand-mile future starts from now on, and a lifetime of great achievements look forward to the future" have engraved the spring and Autumn righteousness of a family and a country to prosper together for future generations.
