Langshi Ancient Town is located among the mountains at the junction of five counties: Wugang, Xinning, Shaoyang, Longhui and Dongkou. It has been known as the "Five Jiming Counties" since ancient times. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was an important material distribution center in southwestern Hunan and was known as "Little Nanjing". In the seventh year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1409), Wang Zhenghai, a descendant of an official, traveled here and saw the stone slabs in the back mountain turned up layer by layer, shaped like waves.
