Mountains and Rivers Blood History
by Alley Layman
About This Novel
"The Chronicles of Mountains and Rivers" is a giant biography of anti-Japanese war generals with real history as its bones and local blood as its soul. The book strictly follows the principle of "only one martyrdom for the country" and includes more than 500 generals of the National Revolutionary Army who died heroically from 1931 to 1945. The book is divided into volumes based on their native places such as Sichuan, Shandong, Yunnan, Guangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, and Hebei, with each volume focusing on loyal martyrs from one province. No drama, no drama. Wang Mingzhang died in Woteng County, Zhang Zizhong died in Yicheng, Tong Linge drank bombs in Nanyuan, and Dai Anlan's remains returned to the country... Each general wrote an independent chapter, about 30,000 words, using documentary techniques to restore the childhood in his hometown, military training, iron-blooded decisive battles, and moments of sacrifice for the country. Every word is well-founded and full of emotion. Here are the straw sandals of Bashu, the broadsword of Qilu, the bones of Sanxiang, and the smoke of Bagui. In five hundred years, China has never lacked its backbone; in fourteen years of war, every inch of mountains and rivers has lost blood. Opening this book, I saw behind the five hundred names, that hot land, that battle flag, and those last words. The mountains and rivers are safe, and the heroic spirit is immortal!
