About This Novel

A brief introduction to Li Dingguo's life Li Dingguo (1621-1662), courtesy name Hongyuan, was born in Yulin, Shaanxi. He was the king of Jin in the Southern Ming Dynasty with a different surname, and was a famous general who fought against the Qing Dynasty in the late Ming Dynasty. When he was young, he followed Zhang Xianzhong to join the army and became an important general of the Great Western Army. He was brave and caring for the people, and had a reputation as a virtuous man. After Zhang Xianzhong's death, faced with the crisis of his country and his family being destroyed and China's mainland sinking, Li Dingguo put national justice first, abandoned old rifts, and led the rest of the Western Region to join forces with the Ming Dynasty to fight against the Qing Dynasty, using Yunnan and Guizhou as the foundation to support the crisis situation in the Southern Ming Dynasty. In the sixth year of Yongli's reign, he led his army on an expedition, defeated Kong Youde in Guilin, and regained Guangxi; he also killed Prince Jingjin Nikan in the Hengyang formation, and became king after two defeats, which shocked the world. Later, he was awarded the title of King of Jin for his merits and became the last military pillar of Nanming. However, there was internal disunity within the Southern Ming Dynasty, conflicts among the same clan, and the heavy Qing army pressing down on the territory, the war situation took a turn for the worse. Li Dingguo traveled to the southwest and struggled to support himself, but it was difficult to reverse the decline. In the first year of Kangxi, Emperor Yongli was killed and Nanming was completely destroyed. Li Dingguo was devastated by the news and became seriously ill after vomiting hematuria. Before his death, he warned his subordinates that they would rather die in desolation than surrender to the Qing Dynasty. He died in Mengla at the age of forty-two. In the name of "Dingguo", he devoted his life to stabilizing his family and country. Although he tried his best to be loyal, he was unable to restore the situation and became the most embarrassing iron-blooded lone minister in the end of the world.
